Loaner program steps up to fill gap with medical equipment

Our Story

"Equipment for Caring" is a medical equipment closet that opened in 2015. Through research, we realized there was a need for readily available used, durable medical equipment, so we were inspired to start this program to better serve our community. Our equipment is gently used and donated by businesses and individuals within Harrisonburg and the surrounding counties. All equipment is cleaned upon receipt and safety checks are performed before they are loaned out. We also provide adult diapers, pull-ups, and skin/wound care products. Monetary donations are used, as needed, to repair equipment or purchase adult care supplies.

We are always seeking volunteers! Opportunities include cleaning and repairing equipment as well as helping serve customers during hours of operation.

A. Items can be picked up at Equipment for Caring, Mount Tabor UMC, 8335 North Valley Pike, Harrisonburg, VA Mondays 5-7 PM or Thursdays 9-11 AM. Please call 540-404-1159 if you have questions. Please do not leave items outside our doors “after hours”

A. We offer these items to the community at no cost, and we welcome tax-deductible donations to assist with our costs.

Interested in Learning More?
We would be happy to come talk to your civic group, church, or organization to tell you more about our program. We want many people to benefit from this service.

Do you have medical equipment or related items in your closet, attic, or basement that is simply taking up space and is no longer needed?

Please consider giving it new use and life by donating it to the Equipment for Caring medical equipment loaner program. Our ongoing goal is to collect donated medical equipment to restock.
